Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: 20 - 25 

Essential Duties: These positions are soccer program referees for the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The appointed individuals will be required to referee and maintain control of youth (ages 4-14) and adult soccer games; set up soccer fields, track game equipment, control the game as the site supervisor, and perform other related duties as required. 

Minimum Requirements: Sufficient knowledge of soccer rules, penalties, and hand signals which would demonstrate an ability to perform the job and the physical ability required to officiate. Please indicate sports experience in the certifications section of the application. Must be at least 16 years old to apply.

Selection Factors: Knowledge of applicable rules, job-related experience, public relations, and communication skills. 

Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings, and Saturdays. All officials are required to work on Saturdays. Schedule may vary depending on department need. 

Wage: Youth: $9.00 - $11.00 per hour; Adult: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour; based on knowledge, experience and performance. Payment will be made by direct deposit. 

Duration of Position: Approximately March to May 2020, depending on department need. Training will take place prior to the beginning of the season. 

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: running during the games and minor bending and lifting; and working with the public in sometimes stressful situations.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
