Part-time Regular Position

Essential Duties: This is a general laborer position in the Facility Services Division of the Provo City Administrative Services Department. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform general labor tasks; including various tasks as instructed by the supervisor, assist in event set up, and perform cleaning, checking fluids and fueling of City carpool vehicles.  This position will coordinate the sale of City surplus items; including photographing items for sale, posting the listing on surplus site, and scheduling pick up of items. In addition, employee will be expected to assist other staff members as directed and perform other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements: Any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Additionally, applicant must be at least 18 years old by the time of appointment. 

License: Valid, lawful driver's license is required at time of appointment. Applicants may be disqualified on the basis of unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles 

Wage: $13.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit. 

Hours: Twenty (20) hours per week; set schedule to be determined with supervisor. 

Selection Factors: Applicant should have the ability to follow directions, communicate with others in a courteous manner, and work safely in required work situations. 

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection for this position will be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. 

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires walking, bending, climbing ladders, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 80 lbs., and agility to move quickly and assume uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time when necessary. This position may also require working in adverse weather conditions.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
