Part Time Seasonal Positions
Positions Available: 12
Essential Duties: This is a laborer position needed seasonally by the golf course of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals hired for these positions will be required to perform general maintenance duties as follows: perform routine manual labor; operate mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment; grease reels and motors; maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; report equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager; wash, clean and maintain equipment; maintain and clean the grounds shop/garage; rake bunkers; assist in project work; assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; lay sod and seed tees, greens and fairways; install paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools; perform other related work as required. Employees may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course and will be expected to assist other crew members as needed/directed.
Minimum Requirements: Any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Applicants must have the following: physical strength and agility to perform the work, ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner, and a knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.
License: Valid, lawful driver's license and/or commercial driver's license may be required at time of appointment. Applicants may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Wage: $8.00 - $12.00 per hour, depending upon skill level and experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Hours: Schedule may vary throughout the season and will be coordinated with supervisor.
Pre-Employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicants may be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six months.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience. Selection for this position will be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
