Legal Department Unpaid Intern
The intern will assist with the duties of the legal department in the following areas:  claims; civil and criminal litigation; discovery; zoning code enforcement; and legal research.  The intern will also perform regular office staff duties, such as interacting with the public, filing, scanning, etc.  The intern will have the opportunity to shadow attorneys and attend court hearings when other duties permit.  This position may be used for school credit with the prior agreement of the department.  This internship lasts one semester.

Event Planning Intern
This intern will plan and facilitate special events for the City of Provo from pre-production through post-production. Interns will develop skills in 9 primary areas: (1) activity development, (2) budgeting & inventory, (3) marketing, (4) experience theming, (5) volunteer management, (6) donations & fundraising, (7) logistical management, (8) entertainment and vendors, and (9) post-production. Events vary with each season and may include Science Palooza, Spring Festival, Bike Prom, Pioneer Day, Movies in the Park, Halloween Carnival & Haunted House, Christmas Market, and Countdown in Provo.

Community & Adaptive Programs Intern
This intern will plan, facilitate, and evaluate community, adaptive, and senior programs for the City of Provo, including educational, fitness, art, social, computer, and other life enrichment programs; prepare promotional advertising for programs; prepare and maintain curriculum, reports, records, and equipment inventory; assist other staff members and the public as needed; and perform other related duties as assigned. Interested interns may focus more fully on community or adaptive if desired.

Fitness Management Internship  –  (6 month minimum)  

Our Fitness Management Internship will allow those interested in a career in the health and fitness industry a chance to gain skills and experience in gym and personnel management.   

This intern will work directly with our Fitness Coordinator to learn the ins-and-outs of managing two fitness facilities, instructors, personal trainers and additional staff. Interns will work through patron requests and have a hand in the day-to-day and long term operations of the Provo Recreation Center.  We cater this experience to the interest and long term career goals for the intern.  We also ask our interns to help with any fitness related events or programs.

Exercise & Wellness Internship   

Interns will gain experience in group instruction, one-on-one personal training, wellness coaching and fitness facility operations.  They will work side by side with a certified fitness instructor to gain as much experience as possible within a safe environment.  They will be asked to help set up and take down equipment, offer a possible warm up, co-teach depending on licenses/certifications, and provide form correction in classes.  We cater this experience to the interest of the intern--whether that be working with seniors or kids, dance fitness, weight lifting, functional fitness, yoga, or circuit training.  We do our best to give each intern an individualized experience. 

Interns also run a class that is called Fitness 101.  This class is typically for people who are new to the gym and are not quite sure how to get started.  They administer a body composition analysis test using our Inbody machine that provides patrons with the amount of water in their body, their dry lean mass, body fat mass and weight.  Interns will be asked to provide goal setting, fitness and/or basic nutrition solutions to patrons.  

Interns will also be given various projects related to operations of our fitness facility throughout their internship.  The hourly requirement for this internship is a minimum of four hours/week, but preferably 5-10 hours per week.

Provo Rec Center Communications/PR Intern
This internship will allow you to work with a team of 3-4 interns in the areas of 1) content creation for social media and other advertising 2) event planning and management 3) agency promotion 4) public communication and marketing, and 5) facility management and improvement. You will generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action and create initiatives for patrons and employees. We are working to target the student demographic through marketing and events as well as cultivating good relationships with companies in Provo who have corporate memberships. We will plan and facilitate several member experience events throughout the semester. This internship has flexible hours with one required 1-hour meeting each week.
