Riverbottoms Neighborhood Meeting

  • Date: 04/16/2019 6:00 PM
  • Location: Canyon Crest Elementary School

Dear Riverbottoms Neighbors,

There will be a neighborhood meeting on Tuesday April 16, 2019 at Canyon Crest Elementary at 6 pm to discuss two developments.

The first proposal is a commercial building at 3765 University Ave (this is the commercial lot just north of Jiffy Lube).  The proposal is for a professional office building on the site as was originally planned when the site was presented for the Jiffy Lube, townhomes and commercial office building.  The proposed development is the Cameron Office Building by Bruce Cameron.  I have attached current site plans and proposed plans for the building.  Mr. Cameron and his architect will be present to discuss the proposal and answer questions.

The second proposal is from Dan LaFontaine for 8 townhomes to be built on 3900 N just to the east of his current residence.  He is proposing a zone change from the current zone of R110 (single family dwelling) to LDR (which allows up to a maximum of 8 townhomes per half acre) to accommodate this development.  I have also attached a site plan for this proposal.  Dan will present more details for his development along with proposed sketches for the townhomes.

We look forward to seeing you at this meeting.  Our neighborhood meetings provide an opportunity to ask questions of developers and to let our Provo City leaders know how we feel about these proposals.  Thank you for taking time to participate in these events.

Pleasant View Neighborhood Meeting

  • Date: 04/18/2019 7:00 PM
  • Location: Centennial Middle School

On Thursday April 18th at 7:00 pm, the Provo City Pleasant View Neighborhood will meet in the auditorium of Centennial Middle School (305 East 2320 North, Provo) to discuss a proposal to add the S (accessory apartment) overlay zone to the existing residential single family zone for 32 homes (see attached map).  The S overlay would permit only homes occupied by the owner(s) to establish an accessory apartment, if, the accessory apartment meets Provo City standards, and, a Provo City permit is issued.  These 32 homes are the only single family homes remaining in the neighborhood that do not have an accessory apartment option for home owners who live in their home.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Kyle Wright (Applicant for the zoning change) or Paul Evans (Chair, Pleasant View Neighborhood).

Kyle Wright     Cell: 801-228-7931    Email:  wrightkyle22@gmail.com

Paul Evans        Cell:  801-361-4011      Email:  evansp@byu.edu

This proposed zoning change will be heard in public meeting before the Planning Commission who will make a recommendation on the proposal to the Municipal Council.  The Municipal Council will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposal and take final action, either approving the zone change or not.  There is no scheduled date, yet, for the Planning Commission or Municipal Council for this proposal.  Public comment will be heard at both the Planning Commission and Municipal Council meetings.  Our neighborhood meeting is just one avenue to make your voice heard on this proposal.

In Disney's My Son Pinocchio Jr., toy maker Geppetto's little wooden puppet is given new life. This new musical, which retells the classic Disney story from Geppetto's perspective, features the beloved classic songs, "When You Wish upon a Star" and "I've Got No Strings," alongside a host of new songs by Oscar winner and Grammy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz.

Join the Blue Fairy (Callie Roberts), Stromboli (Ethan Anderson), and a lively cast of characters as Geppetto (Matthew Wangemann) journeys beyond the toy shop to discover the meaning of family. We're hoping to plant trees to line the streets of our neighborhood. These trees provide shade, clean air, sidewalk protection, and beauty.

BEFORE THE PLANTING DAY:

If you want a free tree in front of your house or neighbors' houses, please add it to the tree-planting map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?fbclid=IwAR1XUhCyzF0OgALQiWrkjZ-lZx9VgN2Z7Ox5U5WqzTBKpsqvo3GhnrQfZyI&mid=1TRk4gsZNDkW_TiObGSFbSsVtyJnA_qEY&ll=40.2375326018154%2C-111.67952564456613&z=16

We need the residents' commitment to water the tree for at least two years. Please fill that out here for each suggested location and get the form back to me (Austin Taylor): https://docs.google.com/document/d/197yY0lVNrbEct-MwVvVl-bu9EGckK58lMqKAUe7Q7YM/edit?fbclid=IwAR2j8qcxQZvrzl0CTWbLV-V7-VgXT3wmTr2CNqLwg6UKoQuVCFLgnBbDvLg

PLANTING DAY, April 27, 8am:

We need as many volunteers as possible. Please bring your fiends, families, and shovels!

When the Blue Fairy grants Geppetto's wish to bring his beloved puppet to life, the new father quickly learns that being a parent is full of challenges. He struggles to make his son "the perfect boy," only to lose him to a gang of Roustabouts. It is only when faced with the thought of never seeing Pinocchio (Noah Brown) again that Geppetto truly learns the joys of being a father and loving his child unconditionally.
